This black grit has an average particle size of 2mm. Used to replicate the black flecks seen in old mortars. These particles were usually ash and charcoal from when the lime was burnt in the kiln. As the process of producing lime has become cleaner these inclusions are no longer evident in the finished product. The black grit will not bleed its colour and can be added to our mortars to give a traditional look.

In the pictures included here, it has been mixed at a ratio of 1kg tub to a 25kg bag of our non hydraulic medium stuff in chalk white.We are able to produce a ready mixed non-hydraulic mortar with the black grit included, please call us for more details on 01794 884294.
